As usual, very interesting conversation below. I agree that notions of teachers as "change agents" (including preservice and new teachers) as well as issues related to researching and writing case studies were important in today's readings. I'm also glad many of you summarized some of the examples you read from the _Inquiry as Stance_ or _Inside/Outside_ book. Many of these examples, as well as the Souto-Manning/Mitchell article, describe collaborative action research. Tonight, we will have two faculty members who will discuss collaborative projects they have conducted with grad students and/or K-12 teachers. One of the guest speakers has even invited along the grad student and teacher so they can speak together about their experiences. I encourage you to ask them questions that arose from your readings. I would be interested to know from all of the guests tonight not only how their research affected their pedagogies, but how the research experience may have changed their beliefs about the purpose of education in their disciplines or their conceptions of their professional identities and roles.
